Input Files

File Format

The preferable input file format is wav, 44.1 kHz sampling rate, 1 or 2 chan. However, PsySound3 accepts many other file formats (which are converted to wav by the program prior to analysis). It accepts any audio sampling rate, but some analysers work best for sampling rates of 44.1 kHz or similar. One analyser only works correctly with that sampling rate.

Multichannel Files

Currently most of the audio analysers are single channel. In the Preferences dialog box (File menu) you can specify how multi-channel files are converted to single channel for single channel analysers (average the two channels, sum the two channels, or select one of the channels). This setting does not affect multi-channel analysers.
